The Desk Clutter

The first hurdles in office cleanliness are the piles of documents and papers. All these papers are always on our office shelves, desks and floors. They are usually not necessary to have all of them but we pile them up each and every day.

Do: You need to set up a system folder where you put all the important documents. Make this a daily habit. All the other papers that seem not important should be thrown in the wastebasket. This basket should be placed just beside your chair so that you will find it easy doing so. important, place it where it is supposed to be. Throwing it just right on your office floor will make the office look dirty and untidy.

Don't: Never leave any new paper or document around the office without them being organized after. It is always important to return them properly to where they belong. Leaving them in your desk will just pile all your documents up and it will be difficult to organize them later on.

Eating while working

You find other people busy working on their computers and all their goods spread right over the keyboard and desk. This is a common situation in most workplaces as employees indulge in taking meals while busy working. The stain that can be at the PC keyboard or at the same time the desk you are operating from is smelly is never acceptable.

Do: It is an unhealthy habit of eating on the office desk since it can cause even various diseases. Every office has a lunch break. You should make use of this break and complete taking meals in the canteen. It will help both keeping your desk clean and it is also hygienic for your health.

Don’t: Avoid taking any meal while at your working desk. Ensure you complete taking lunch at the right place. As you may be taking your lunches right at your desk, you might smell stinky surrounding and so you should stop taking meals from there. Working and eating have never gone in the same way, show your hard work is any other different way.

The electronic items

If your electronic devices are filled with dust, they may at times stop working. They are your company properties and it is your duty and responsibility to maintain their cleanliness.

Do: You need to clean all these devices at least once a week. Start with your computer keyboard. Use a special type of cloth for this. To clean for instance your PC monitor, ensure you use a microfiber cloth as they won’t scratch the monitor. The office telephone, on the other hand, should be cleaned using cleaning sprays. Do this always to maintain their functionality.

Don’t: Never at all costs leave your computer, or printer and other devices uncovered before you leave the office. All cleaning of your office devices should be done with the use of just a damp cloth.
